Welcome to Kerrville!
A Hill Country Paradise...
Nestled on the banks of the Guadalupe River, Kerrville is a vibrant community that is the capital of the Texas Hill Country. Its friendly people and majestic scenery make Kerrville a natural place to live, work and play. We boast a community rich in culture and heritage. Our local lore includes many inspiring stories of heroic deeds by our early German pioneers and the cowboys who began major cattle drives in Kerrville as they headed north on the Great Western Cattle Trail. Our community has continued to thrive since its foundation in 1889. Kerrville is home to a multitude of popular events and attractions that draw visitors from all corners of the globe. A few of our world class events and attractions include the Official Texas State Arts and Crafts Fair, Kerrville Folk Festival, Museum of Western Art, James Avery Headquarters, and Schreiner University. Kerrville is best known for its beautiful parks such as Kerrville-Schreiner Park, Louise Hays Park and Flat Rock Park that line the Guadalupe River which runs directly through the City and is treasured by those who live in and visit Kerrville.
All of these events and attractions occur within the backdrop of stunning natural beauty. Wildlife abounds throughout our endless rugged hills where they water at spring-fed creeks that meander around the tree topped peaks and through the sunny meadows of the Guadalupe River Valley. We cater perfectly to those who enjoy the outdoor lifestyle with our mild climate and easy river access. Lose yourself while exploring the wildflower blanketed fields down to the towering cypress trees of the river's edge. We have wonderful access to the Guadalupe River right in our own front yard. The recent opening of the first segment of the long awaited River Trail, with access from the Riverside Nature Center, is an excellent opportunity that can be used to stay fit or to simply enjoy the beauty of nature.
Kerrville is fortunate to be home to three distinguished golf courses with Scott Schreiner Municipal Golf Course, Riverhill Country Club, and Comanche Trace. Our cultured atmosphere offers an array of interests for fine arts with our outdoor amphitheaters at The Point Theatre, Louise Hays Park, and Kerrville-Schreiner Park. Symphony of the Hills, Broadway Musicals and a variety of plays are performed at the magnificent Kathleen C. Cailloux Theater and Schreiner University.
From enjoying wildlife and nature while camping at exceptional parks to appreciating the fine arts, there is certainly something for everyone here in Kerrville.
