Compliance Dismissals

You may be eligible to have your case dismissed due to compliance with the law in certain instances.  These include, but are not limited to, the offenses listed below.

If eligible, you may submit your proof in person, by email, or by regular mail: 301 McFarland, Kerrville, Texas 78028. With your proof, you will also need to pay the fee associated with the compliance dismissal, which can be done over the phone, in person, by mail, or on our website.  All proof and/or payment of fees must be submitted (or postmarked if by mail) on or before the appearance date on your citation.

All requests for a compliance dismissal must include the following items and/or information:

  • A copy of your photo ID
  • Your signature (by signing your correspondence or by typing your name at the bottom of your email)
  • Your current phone number
  • Your current mailing address
  • An executed Compliance Affidavit with attached proof of compliance 

The court will also accept pictures of these items or your compliance documentation.  Therefore, if you have a smart phone, you can take a picture of any of the required items and documentation and attach them to your email.  However, when sending an email, if the attachment(s) (individually or in the aggregate) is/are larger than 20 megabytes (20MB), your email will not be delivered.  Always call to verify that an email has been received.

Before the defendant’s initial appearance date.
Must show proof that the defect was remedied.

Vehicle Not Registered in Texas
Within 20 working days of the offense or before the defendant’s initial appearance date, whichever is later.
Must show proof that the registration was obtained and that that you were not required to pay a late penalty.

Fewer than 2 License Plates Displayed
Before the defendant’s initial appearance date.
Must show proof that the defect was remedied.

Altered or Obscured License Plate
Before the defendant’s initial appearance date.
Must show proof that the defect has been remedied and that the plates displayed at the time of the offense were valid.

Expired Driver’s License
Within 20 working days of the offense or before the defendant’s initial appearance date, whichever is later.
Must show proof that your driver’s license has been renewed.

Failure to Update Address or Name on Driver’s License
Within 20 working days of the offense.
Must show proof that your driver’s license has been updated.

Violate Driver’s License Restriction or Endorsement
Before the defendant’s initial appearance date.
Must show proof that the restriction or endorsement was due to a condition that has been surgically or medically corrected before the date of the offense OR in error and shows proof that the endorsement has been removed.

Fail to Display Driver’s License
Within 20 working days of the offense or before the defendant’s initial appearance date, whichever is later.
Must show proof that you possess a valid driver’s license.

Defective Equipment (non-CMV)
Before the defendant’s initial appearance date.
Must show proof that the defect has been remedied.

Expired Disabled Parking Placard


Within 20 working days of the offense or before the defendant’s initial appearance date, whichever is later.

*    The “Initial Appearance Date” is the date provided on your citation for you to appear before the Kerrville Municipal Court.
