Hiring Process
Job Openings and Job Postings
Job Openings are distributed and posted as follows:
- * Internal postings are sent to all departments and posted for a minimum of three (3) working days.
- If an individual is not selected internally, or the hiring supervisor desires to expand the field of applicants, then the position is posted for the public on the Job Posting Board located near the front entrance to City Hall and on the City website.
- Open positions may also be advertised in local, state, and/or national news media, professional publications, web sites, and/or other means deemed beneficial to recruitment.
*A department may request a position be posted internally and externally at the same time.
Application Guidelines
All Departments (excluding Fire & Police)
- All applicants must apply for open positions via the City website. Once on the City website, click on “JOIN TEAM KERRVILLE”.
- An applicant will need to click on the job title of the position they are interested in.
- The applicant will be taken to the job description for the open position.
- At the top of the job description page there will be a green button that says “APPLY”.
- After clicking on the “APPLY” button, the applicant will be taken to the NeoGov website where they will create an account if this is their first time applying and will be able to apply for the position.
Job Offers
All job offers are conditional upon the passing of pre-employment and/or background checks.
Pre-employment and background checks include any or all of the following (but are not limited to):
- Drug Screen or Drug Screen plus Alcohol Screen for DOT Drivers
- Physical Exam
- Criminal History Record Check
- Credit Check
- Driving Record Check
- And/or verification of any or all information provided on the employment application form.
