[ARCHIVED] Labor Day Impaired Driving Mobilization

On August 16 - September 2, 2013, the Kerrville Police Department will join forces with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and hundreds of other law enforcement agencies across the state in the "Labor Day Impaired Driving Mobilization Crackdown".

The crackdown serves as a high-visibility enforcement effort to decrease crashes, fatalities, and injuries during the Labor Day holiday which has become notorious when drivers make the deadly decision to drink and drive.

During the 2011-2012 mobilization periods, Kerrville police arrested 16 individuals for Driving While Intoxicated. Officers also made more than 21 arrests for Public Intoxication which could have resulted in a DWI arrest if the persons had been driving.

The program has proven to be a success with no reported fatalities in our community during the mobilization period of 2012. Traffic Sergeant Martin Morris said "Together, we can make Kerrville roadways safer for everyone – Don’t drink & Drive".

A DWI arrest and conviction in Texas can result in jail time, up to $17,000 in fines, hours of community service, and very likely a suspended driver’s license.
