[ARCHIVED] KPD Officer Paul Gonzales Recieves Award

On August 23, 2011, Kerrville Police Officer Paul Gonzales received the Ray Ramon Peace Officer of the Year Award at the Texas Police Academy Alumni Banquet held in Galveston, Texas.

The Ray Ramon Peace Officer Award is an honor bestowed upon a Texas peace officer deemed to have contributed the most to the development of the Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA) program during 2010-2011.

The award is named in honor of the officer who hosted the first CPAAA Convention in 1993, Officer Ray Ramon. In the fall of 1990 Officer Ramon, Sgt. Glenn Repp, and Mr. Tom Bryson the department Community Relations, Crime Prevention Coordinator, and Public Information Officer, respectively, of Duncanville Police Department graduated their First Citizens Police Academy Class. During the next three years, Officer Ramon and Mr. Bryson helped several police departments in Texas and around the nation to start their Citizen Police Academy programs. Officer Ramon worked with the Dallas Police Department to start their CPA program.

Officer Gonzales and several members of the Kerrville Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association attended the Texas Citizen Police Academy Alumni Convention.
The convention offers assistance and training to the various Citizen Police Academy Alumni Associations within the State of Texas to serve their communities by supporting the law enforcement agencies in their area.

Officer Gonzales will be honored at the Kerrville City Council Meeting on September 13, 2011 at 6:00 P.M.
