On April 23, 2011 the City of Kerrville responded to a wastewater collection system spill. The location of the spill was Quinlan Lift Station located at First Street and Quinlan Creek.
The estimated date and time of the spill was April 23rd from 3:00 a.m. to 10:00
a.m. The estimated volume of the spill was 153,000 gallons of domestic wastewater.
The area potentially affected is Quinlan Creek from First Street to SH-27. The cause
of the spill was a failed electrical component (DFS Pump Controller – which if
operating correctly would have notified operators before a spill occured) within the
Quinlan lift station. Actions that were taken were that the DFS pump controller was
replaced and cleanup of the affected area has been performed to include the
removal of any affected aquatic life.
