[ARCHIVED] Quinlan Creek Wastewater Spill

On April 23, 2011 the City of Kerrville responded to a wastewater overflow at First Street adjacent to Quinlan Creek.

The spill was caused by an electrical component failure at the wastewater pump station which has now been repaired. On April 25, 2011, a Texas Parks and Wildlife Kills and Spills Representative reported a fish kill on Quinlan Creek affecting mainly larger species of fish such as bass, perch, and catfish. The areas of Quinlan Creek that were most affected were between 1st and East Main St. Preliminary testing showed low dissolved oxygen levels most probably attributed to the wastewater overflow as the cause, however, more testing will need to be completed before any final report can be expected. All citizens are advised to stay away from Quinlan Creek from 5th Street to the Guadalupe River until further notice.
