On October 29, 2010, The Kerrville Police Department recognized Police Chief John M. Young, Jr., for being selected as President of the Texas Police Chiefs Association at a ceremony held by the TPCA in Corpus Christi, Texas.
The Texas Police Chiefs Association was founded in 1958 to promote, encourage and advance the professional development of Chiefs of Police and senior police management personnel throughout the State of Texas. TCPA is the only official state law enforcement administrator's organization in Texas and, as such, it is concerned on a statewide basis with all issues involving the criminal justice system.
TCPA actively seeks to promote the professional practice of law enforcement administration, to represent the membership and the profession on issues of concern, and to encourage high ethical standards of conduct among law enforcement administrators through its code of ethics. TCPA membership includes law enforcement management personnel of over 300 cities and agencies representing a population served of more than 15 million.
Captain Jeffrey L. Wendling and City Manager Todd Parton were present at the ceremony as representatives of the City of Kerrville.
