Solid Waste
Solid Waste is a division of the Public Works Department.  The Solid Waste Division is responsible for managing the City of Kerrville’s residential solid waste collections and disposal operations. Republic Services is contracted to provide all collection services for residential customers. To protect public health and safety, the Solid Waste Division provides a variety of municipal solid waste services to residents that are safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible. The list of services include:
  • Collection of regular garbage
  • Collection of single stream recycling
  • Monthly collection for yard waste
  • Collections and drop off opportunities for bulky waste items
  • Household Hazardous Waste drop off event
  • Collection of dead animals
  • Recycling drop off station

BULK WASTE COLLECTION - April 4th through April 22ndFor all City of Kerrville residential units that have an active account for solid waste services.

Curbside collections for the quarter are for residential appliances such as washers, dryers, stoves, indoor/outdoor furniture, and water heaters as well. In addition, Carpet will be collected only if it is cut into sections that measure no more than 6ft. by 6ft. and is individually rolled and tied.  Refrigerators, freezers, and A/C window units will be collected only if the refrigerant has been reclaimed and the unit tagged by a licensed technician. Please have all items out by Monday morning at 7:30am and Republic will have them collected by the end of the week.  Once items are collected on your street, Republic will not return.  Listed below is the schedule:

Monday Collection
must have items out by 7:30 a.m. on Monday, April 4th;
Tuesday Collection
must have items out by 7:30 a.m. on Monday, April 11th;
Wednesday/Thursday Collection must have items out by 7:30 a.m. on Monday, April 18th.

Prohibited Items include but are not limited to - tires, household hazardous waste, yard waste, fencing, and any large amounts of construction debris, sinks, tub, toilets, cabinets, paneling, cement, bricks, lumber, shingles, or materials from remodeling.
The City of Kerrville uses an automated collection system for regular garbage and recycling.  Every residential unit uses 45 gallon or 95 gallon carts for recycling and regular garbage.  Fees for solid waste services are included in your utility bill. . If you experience issues with any solid waste collections, please contact Republic Services at 210-304-2700(option 2).  For all other inquiries, please contact David Barrera via email to or you may call City Hall at 830-257-8000.

In addition, The City of Kerrville owns a municipal landfill, transfer station, and composting facility.  The City contracts with Republic Services to operate these facilities. For information on fees, requirements, hours of operation, or other general inquiries, please contact Republic Services at 830-257-3831.
